Our artisans

BALI BAZAAR was created from our desire to support and promote the unique savoi-faire of exceptional artisans!

Our team decided to go off the road of the standardised fabrication in order to meet artisans who still continue to create handmade products, sometimes by using ancestral techniques. We are proud to introduce you to our community of artisans with whom we built solid relationships and friendship.

An invitation to lose yourself in the Balinese countryside and to meet these artisans, their smile and authentic expertise.

Batik manufacturing process

The traditional Batik technique with Wayan

Listed at the UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage, the Indonesian Batik technique is fully mastered by Ibu Wayan. Several weeks are needed in order to produce one model of Batik. This notably varies according to the thickness of the fabric as well as to the number of coulours to be used. First, Ibu Wayan start by drawing the pattern - traditional or more modern - on a cotton or silk canvas. Once drawed, the pattern is ready to be covered with wax. All the process is handmade... No shaking allowed! The fabric which is now covered with wax is then ready to be painted and dyed with natural coulours. The process of waxing and dying the fabric is repeated for each colour used. Ibu Wayan has been mastering the art of batik for more than 30 years. She designs exquisite and incredibly delicate products. Handmade products from Bali.
