Here is a small list of our favorite beaches in Bali (excluding Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan).
Although Bali is not known for its beaches, it still has some beautiful – and still secret – spots to discover.
Suluban - Guaranteed postcard effect!
Located in the Bukit near the Uluwatu temple, this beach is undeniably one of the most Instagrammable. Once in the car park, the magic happens: a short walk through a few restaurants offers you a fantastic view of the cliffs of Bukit and the Indian Ocean. A small corridor between the rocks will let you discover an exceptional beach. Very appreciated by surfers for its world-class spots, this is also the perfect white sand beach to chill in the sun or in the shade of the rocks in front of a crystal clear water. A small reef also allows amateurs to appreciate some moray eels at low tide. If you decide to spend the end of the day there, you will enjoy a stunning sunset. Sip a beer or a fresh coconut at the small restaurants perched on the cliff in order to watch the surfers having their last ride before sunset! Definitely a thing to do once in Bali.
Virgin Beach - Unspoiled and wild
This beach is located a little further outside the tourist circuits. White sand beach with crystal clear waters, it is still one of the rare beaches in Bali with white sand and coconut trees directly on the beach. The path off the beaten track is fantastic and offers stunning views over a valley filled with coconut palms. At the end of the trail: The Grail! An unspoiled, wild and uncrowded beach with only a few small bamboo huts to laze on a deckchair. Its remoteness makes it one of the most unspoiled beaches.
Nyang Nyang - Breathtaking (literally and figuratively)
This is a beach that must be earned. Facing the Indian Ocean and located at the far south of Bali, not so many beaches will give you this feeling. Between cliff and ocean, this white sand beach has it all. The cliffs of Bukit take on all their splendor here. You will have to descend through the forest on a steep slope to deserve this moment of happiness. 10 minutes of descent ... even the surfers hesitate... but what a sensation! Once past the forest and after meeting some curious monkeys, this beach of several hundred meters gives you an idea of what Melasti or Pandawa must have been before (2 other famous beaches for the domestic tourists because they are now accessible by car) . These hundreds of meters of white sand will leave you with an image of paradise found. Watch out the way back up ...
Secret Beach & Blue Lagoon
Located on either side of the ferry terminal for the Gili Islands and Nusa Penida, these 2 white sand beaches are less desert than the others. Secret beach will nevertheless give you the tranquility and the turquoise blue of a beach bordered by coconut palms. Located between two sides of small cliffs, these two beaches are pretty coves where you will definitely feel the Bali mood and vibes. Bring the swimsuits.
